Image Copyright Stampin' Up!

I really like this card......and I really like myself for making it! Wowza! Just in time for Valentine's Day and so pretty if I do say so myself. "So Pretty, self". Here is the inside view..... (I am so into making those {.......} little dots today........I think)

Image Copyright Stampin' Up!

We, all 45 people, made 45 cards! Whew! It was a lot of fun but I do wish that maybe sometime I can attend an ALL Stampin' Up! Shoebox Swap with 45 cards to make. Wouldn't that be awesome? However, the best thing about this swap was that I DID get to play around with non-SU! stuff and that was terrific. Yes, Virginia, there IS such a thing as non-SU! stuff.

I am thinking about putting a link on this blog to another new blog that I will start with non-SU! supplies being the main feature. Tell me what y'all think about that idea, okey-dokey?

Quick post- I'll list the supplies and run!

DAY 1,325,633 OF NO SMOKING

That's what it feels like! Note to self- do not try to quit smoking when you are PMS,ing. Another note to self, it don't matter 'cause stopping smoking takes several months and you will PMS at least three times.

NO, I haven't had a cigarette. I have just wanted one really bad the last few days.

I went shopping tonight. I had to. My family was going to get killed and I was going to land in jail if I didn't. On my list to do was:

Office Depot- get filler calendar for OLD demo planner because the calendar notebook (Barnes and Noble) that I usually get is not available this year. Note to self: I have had this B&N Calendar for the last four years- it is my office/studio bible- it is not available this year (maybe sold out?) What will I do? I have kept all the previous ones as a journal to my life. Now, it is fillers for my demo planner. Life is changing really quick right before my eyes. I need a cigarette and I actually pray on my way to Office Depot.

PetSmart-get the Chondroitin-Glucosamine stuff for the 14 year old dog who is doing so well (I love you, Baby Einstein!) and the stop shedding stuff for both dogs. Look very seriously for stop smoking stuff at PetSmart but they don't have it. WTH? I'd still hawk a ride with a stranger and steal one of his smokes at this point. Prayed more.

Home Depot- am re-doing the PageStudio- will send pics. when it is done- if I feel like it and I DON'T want a cig. at the time. Got several more shelves to put up in the studio- of course, my leetle friend told me that they all look crappy and I should stop at the convenience store to drown out my shelf sorrows with ciggies.

I told my leetle friend to SHADDUP!

Then I prayed again.

Oh yeah- I made it home. I thank God that I live in the country and I can be a hermit.

Lord knows what will happen in the next few days when I have to go into town and get some milk.

Smoke something for me, will you? Even if it is a toothpick (yeah, I seriously thought about that one). Light a fire, a candle or have a weinie roast, I don't care- just let me breathe the smoke!

Anyways, I seriously love each and every one of you who have encouraged me. I KNOW you are behind me and that you will tell on me if you see me steal a smoke- I love you.

Part III of Old DSP coming soon- don't miss it! Stay cool, stampers ( and let's NOT get lung cancer, O.K.?)!

Old DSP- Part II

Image Copyright Stampin' Up!

Good evening! How is everybody doing? Do you have a hole inside your mouth that is as big as the Grand Canyon? No? Well, I do. And no, I'm not talking about my actual mouth opening (os). Yes, I will use technical medical terms here because after all, I am a dormant Surgical Technologist--- Labor and Delivery forever----O.K. only for about 12 years total. Yes, I know a lot about "birthin' babies"! Grand Canyon isn't a medical term, you say? Well , it is in my book-------AND my mouth!

I had a molar pulled out (oh, excuse me----extracted) on Monday. It was worse than having a wisdom tooth pulled. Needless to say I took Vicodin for the first day and a half and got tired of it. I hate the dizzy, drowsy, ditzy (excuse me again----vertigo, fatigue and brain fart) feeling when I take Vicodin. So, it's getting better and Ibuprofen is all right with me. Besides having dental work, my internet went down during that time. Let's see, is there any other excuse I can come up with for not posting the last three days? Well, yes! I haven't posted 'cause it's my blog and I'll post when I want to! Hee-hee. I'm posting tonight and that will be two times in 3 days. Y'all don't freak out now, ya hear?!

Enough chatter (yes, I am still not smoking so talking has become a substitute that will probably stay) and on with the program. Here is a great way to use a full sheet of retired, old DSP AND utilize both sides. The front side is the calendar of course, and the back side of the calendar are places to journal, write notes and jot down important dates. The name of my project is---------"calendar". O.K., so my imagination leaves a bit to be desired but you get the point, right? There really isn't a picture tutorial on this project. It's pretty straight forward. I'll list what I did as well as the supplies used, okey-dokey?

This skirt hangar was bought at Ikea for 99 cents (yeah baby- I said 99 cents). It is called a Bumerang hangar and the item code is: 600.789.39
I like this hangar for the calendar for two reasons. A.) I can emboss a title/name onto the wooden part (will emboss "Kelly" onto mine later- she is my PagePeep- 7 yrs. old and really wanting to keep track of her dates instead of asking mommy all the time "What is today's date?) and #2) the plastic clippies that the DSP hangs from does not mar the paper and they hold 12 sheets of DSP just fine and c.) I can adjust the width of the clips along the metal ends to fit my paper. That was three things, huh? Oh well, a bonus!

I printed the calendar templates on Whisper White card stock. I found the templates at www.rubberstamping.about.com. The only drawback is that these templates DO NOT print out straight onto the card stock. I had to crop away and even so, they still aren't perfectly straight on the finished page. I am sure y'all could do a better job at cropping than I can. I never said that I didn't live a "crooked" life! LOL.

I have only made 4 pages so far and Kelly is chomping at the bit for me to get the rest done. I suppose I should make a "January" page next! After that I'll start working on the pages in order just to make sure that when the month actually arrives she'll have a page for it.

Another cool thing about this calendar is that after each page is "used" you can put it in a scrapbook! AND I have sooooo many supplies left over from the SS (Simply Scrappin') kits that I can still make a lot more scrapbook pages with them!

Hope you made it all the way thru this post! Here are the supplies used for the front and back sides of the pages- enjoy! Thanks for stopping by (and listening/reading all my incessant talking)!!!! Have an awesome day stampers!

Using Up Old DSP- Part I

Hey there stampers! Boy, am I ever gonna get this one in by the hair of my chinny-chin-chin. Well, actually I was waxed today so there's no hair but.....really! TMI? I promised the tutorial this weekend and it looks like I'm barely gonna make it. I certainly didn't plan to spend ALL day last Thursday and Friday on the computer on SCS. That's what I did anyway- HAD to see sneak peeks of the new catalog coming out.

Did you notice that the title of today's post says "Part I"? Yep, I have several projects completed using retired DSP and am going to write tutes for all of them, then post. Yay me!!!!! Well, yay me if I actually do what I say I'm gonna do. Y'all know how that goes!

This project tonight is something I saw demonstrated at a team meeting like, two years ago. Many of you might have seen this before but I thought it would be cool to write a tutorial on it because it uses an entire sheet of DSP AND you can see both sides of the DSP when the project is completed!

So, with out further ado:

One Sheet Wonder Wallet

*note: Side A of the DSP is the side that you want showing the most on the outside of your wallet. Side B is the other side (duhhh- I know y'all aren't dumb but apparently I am 'cause that ["Side B is the other side"] is what I have written down in my sketchbook- LOL) . I have you turn the DSP over to score because the "bump" from the score line is always supposed to go INSIDE your fold. Doing this will ensure a tightly folded wallet with crisp creases.

1. Score your DSP at 1/2", 3", 9" and 11 1/2 " on side A and then turn your DSP over.

Note: I'm not going to post all the pics. of me scoring- I figure you get the idea!

2. Score Side B at 6" and then your DSP over again to Side A and rotate 90 degrees to the right.

3. Score again at 3 1/2" and 8 1/2".

4. Fold 1/2" in on either side of your DSP where you made the score lines. Remember, the score "bump" is inside the fold.

5. On Side A, score at a diagonal on each corner. Measure 2 1/2 " from each corner to do this. Then fold the corners along the diagonal score line inside to Side B ("bump on inside of fold").

6. Put your project in front of you where it looks like this (below) and fold the outer 1/4 of each side of the DSP inside to Side B. Then turn the DSP over.

7.Fold the top 1/3 of the DSP down and then fold the bottom 1/3 of the DSP up and tuck
into the top third.

8. Fold the entire project in half along the middle score line and viola! you are finished! Well, except for card stock inserts (if you want to make them- you can put anything into this wallet that you want) and belly bands if you want or ribbon closures!

The measurements for the card stock inserts are 2 1/4" x 4 3/4". You can adhere lists, photos or anything you think of onto these inserts. Punch out tabs using the tab punch and the inserts will be easy to take out of the wallet.

I don't have the measurements for a belly band except that it is one inch wide. It's up to you if you want to close your wallet with a belly band, velcro tabs, magnets, ribbons, whatevah! You can embellish the outside of the wallets however you like.

Okey-dokey, That's it! Please let me know if there is something you don't understand or need help on if you should decide to make one of these.

Stay tuned for another DSP use- Part II. I'll give you a hint- cute, cute, calendar!

Thanks for stopping by- have a great week!

Looking Forward to........

........my very first picture tutorial? Well, it'll be here sometime tomorrow or this weekend! I've taken photos, completed the project and wrote down the instructions. Now all I have to do is organize about a million pictures into a reasonably cohesive post. I'll give you a hint- the project has to do with using your soon-to-be and already retired DSP! I've GOT to use all this old DSP up!

I've been on SCS all day today checking out the new catalog coming out on January 19th! Some wonderful, fun, funky and wild surprises are coming your way! Wait until you see!

Nope, no cigs. so far and it is already getting easier. Yay! Right now I am craving sleep so I must be off. Thanks for stopping by and I'll post more soon!

A Little Somethin', Somethin'

Good afternoon stampers! How is everyone doing in this fine new year of 2009? Are y'all playing "catch up" like me? Are y'all trying to stick to some resolutions that you made like me? Are y'all feeling really overwhelmed by all the things you want to accomplish this year like me? Weeeellll- if you are then let me tell you a little secret. I am taking things one day at a time and not even thinking about what will happen tomorrow! It helps me S-L-O-W-L-Y get things done around here! As a matter of fact I have to take things at only about 5 minutes at a time 'cuz I want a cigarette so bad about every 5 minutes! Yes, that is one of my resolutions- get healthier, quit smoking (I haven't tried to quit in many years), lose more weight, etc... I know better than to try and do all these things at once so right now it's no ciggies for me. I put the patch on about noon today- we'll see what happens! O.K. enough chatter, let's get on with it! (I know that's what you were really thinking, huh?:))

Here is a card that I whipped up really quickly last night. I just had to post something and was inspired by a instruction card that I received in the mail. Do you guys get those? Instruction cards from a popular craft magazine sent to you because they want you to subscribe to the magazine? Anyways, I liked the idea of something missing on the front of the card to illiterate the meaning of the card. For example: "I miss you" is shown by the flower missing from one square. KEWL, huh? Here it 'tis:

Like I said, I whipped up this card really fast. So fast that a little crookedness is on there AND a dog hair is stuck to the left of the word "missed". Look closely (or maybe don't look). I'm re-doing my PagePlace (studio) and found TONS of retired SU! paper. I am going to use it aaalllll up before I order new paper---by golly!

Now, on to other things. On December 10th (while I was sick) I received my first award EVAH! It was an "I Love Your Blog" award from Jaz!

Click on her name to view her blog!
Yep, she is an unbelievably sweet person that also has an awesome blog. She has kindly answered my questions about life "down under" and I just wanna run down there and give her BIG hugs! Thanks, Jaz! So, I will follow the rules (copied from Jaz's blog) and nominate 5 people to receive this award. Here are the rules:

1. The winner can put the logo on their blog.
2. Link the person you received the award from.
3. Nominate 5 other blogs.
4. Put links to those blogs on yours.
5. Leave a message on the blogs of the girls you've nominated

There are sooooo many great blogs out there and this is really hard to do. So, in no certain order, here are 5 of my faves!:

1.Wanda- she is one of my SCS Group #4 SU! Only buddies. She consistently posts (which I admire) and has awesome projects to share and she is my Twinkie! Besides that, her boys are cute and her hubby defends us and our country!
2.Stamper- who cares if I nominate a dog? I can do anything I want to 'cuz this is my blog- HA HA HA HA. No, really, his owner's name is Ann and she and stamper have one of the most original blogs I have ever seen as well as GREAT posts! Besides that, I love reading about a SU! demo from her dog's point of view- it's FUN!
3.Linda- she lives really close to me and I think she is funny (in a good way)! I love her sense of humor and you just need to take a look at some of the projects she has created- sheer genious! I think I spelled that wrong- obviously I am NOT one! Besides that, she is a dog lover like me!
4. Renee- I don't have enough words to say about how smart she is. She's got a smart blog with smart projects. She's really smart when it comes to computer stuff. She's, well- she's STINKIN' smart! Besides that, she has FIVE children and I have no idea how she does it all with grace and SMARTS!
5. Mary- I swear this isn't because I just won blog candy from her (check out her blog- that was ME who won that candy!). I'm nominating her because I check her blog out EVERY day. Why do I check out her blog every day? Because she posts everyday, she has figured out how to make her blog look so professional AND because she is extremely talented. Besides that, she is "stampin' pretty" and "stampin' sweet" and "stampin' her feet". O.K., not that last part but if she did "stamp her feet" it would be one of the best stamping jobs in history. I can tell you that much!

Well stampers, that's it for now. Aren't you glad?:) I am certainly talkative today. I guess I'm talking instead of smoking. And that'll be all right with me. Y'all have a great rest of the day and I'll be back later! Thanks for stopping by!

Lisa

ETA:
I have no idea why those little blue rectangles are there in the beginning of my post. I'll try to get rid of them later.
